Last Saturday night at an early hour the people commenced going to the opera house, and by 8 o'clock,the timeannounced for the exercises to commence, the body of the hall was crowded by people mostly from the country who had come out to hear Gen. Cary, the veteran war horse of temperanee, who has grown gray in the cause which he espoused nearly lialf a century age, and who carne here at this time to assist in the fourth anniversary of the reform club. After the usual preliminary exercises, Gan. Cary was introduced and spoke for nearly two hours. He also addressed largeaudiences Sunday afternoon and evening. The meeting Monday evening was addressed by Dr. W. C. Gibbon, ot Topeka, Kansas, who was sent here by Gov. St. Jonn who was unable to be present on account of important business engage ments. Hon. Goo. W. Bain, the eloquent Kentuckian, drew immense houses Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and electrifled the people by his thrilling oratory. The reform club this evening will have the pleasure of hearing the Kev. R. B. Pope, of Chicago. To-morrow evening there ís a rich treat lo store forlhose who willattend thu opera house meeting, on which occasion the great pulpit orator of Michigan, Rev. T. F. Hildreth, of Grand Rapids, will speak. This simple announcement should be sulUcient to flll the opera house. Gen., Cary who spoke in Dexter last evening, wilïalso speak again to-morrow evening. Friday evening he will address the Saline club, and probably the citizens of Ypsilanti Saturday mght. R. E. Frazer was in Ridgeway Sunday night. The red ribboners indulged in a peanut social in the school house at Forbes' Corners Saturday night. There was a goodly number present and a high old time is re ported. Col. Bain will speak in the Ypsilanti opera house thiseveuing. The singing at the tempcrance meeting this evening will be ander the directiou of Mis. Dr. Tyler, who will be assisted by 40 childreu. Saturday evening Dr. W. C. Gibbon will be the speaker. Thosc who heard him Monday night were very favorably irapressed. Good speakers will be present Sunday afternoon and Sunday night, which will be the closing meeting of the anniversary. Up to Tuesday evening the receipts at the opera house amounted to $230.
