True it is that biessings brighten as they take their flight. Uut it needed uo flight on your part to make your brethren couscientious of your wortb. I am not here to üatter, I would that SnothéT knowiug you better from long association and years of acquaiutauceship stood here lo teil the whole truth. It is not for me to atlempt to say trhat they alone might say, Uut I am here to add to this testimonial such words as will sliow you that m this oiïering therc is no idle ceremouy. You have long been a follower of the lightaod ;i teacher of the sacred principies oi masonry - many a brother has Bat at your leet and learned the way of truth. But sir your cxample has been the best vinciiuation you could have made of the tiuthfulness and practical worth of the principies of our order. We recognize in you a true masonic brother; upright in your walk and conversation; honest in your deatings; virtuous in your intentions; benevolent in'youi acts and reudy in all your deeds to leiid a helpiug hand. You have held posts of honor and res poiiBibiiity. South, west and east and BVery place you have adorned wilh corteous, intelligent, gentlemauly and chiislian beliavior. When you have gone let it not. be thought tliat you will be i'orgotten. The deeds of good men are not always intened with their boues, nor are tlny carried away by any modera mode of transportation. Süch deeds remaiu to bless and benefit the spot whereon they wero dope. And sir, your life, so much of which has been.spent i.uiong us will not remain merely as a plcusunt inemory, but that recollection shall be a living inspuatiou to those who come after you to make of rnasonry what you have made üf it, a practical every day affair. Hefore you are the compass, the square and the inystic (!, wliat Ihcy reprosent no man knows better than you. Il is the wish of your friends that as these Qmbleme have guided your f eet throuuli years that are past, so they may still go before you as did the Shekina of old go before the children of Israel, and ever lead you away from darkness into light."
