Tlie Michigan Farmer, whose editor recently visited Jackson, says that the execulive committee of the state agricultural society has done a large amount of work on the fair grounds at Jackson in fitting it for the coming fair. The keeper's dweiling at the entrance has been remodeled, the secretary's aud the president's olilce, society's luuch room, business committee's office, aud pólice headquarters have been repaired, and the inain building and pomologisaJ hall have been reliooreü, painted and ceiled. Superintendent Gilbert has erected for douI try exhibitors, a building 24 by 100 feet, roofed, Üoored, and amply liguted, coutaining 300 coops, witli ampie arrangements for feediug and watering. The Detroit band stand, trom which President Hayes addressed the people, has been removed here, and lor tüe iirst time in the bistory of tüe fair the needs of newspaper men have been attended to by the erection of a handsome building, with desks and tables enough to accommodate 40 or 50 persous, witli washroom and water-closet and vitu telephoue and telegraph connections. Two buildings 24 by 100 feet each, have been erected lor thecarriageexhibit, to protect them from rain. A new building 50 by 100 feet, with cement roof and floor, has been erected inside the race track for such rnachinery as does not require power, ind half the space inside the track will be used for the display of agricultura! implements. Machinery hall will also be put in good condition. There will be stabhug for 400 horses, stalls for 400 cattle and Üoored pens for 350 sheep and the same number of hogs. All of these have been thoroughly repaired aud when the arrangements are completed it is intended that they süall be far more perfect and convenient than ever before.
