At a meeting of the stewards of the M. E. church last week, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted : Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God by an inscrutable Providence to remove by death from our society, Mrs. llarriett A. Alabaster, the wife of the Kev. Dr. Alabaster, our esteemed pastor. Thcrefore. Resolved, That wbile we bow in humble submission to the Divine wil!, we canuot but deplore and deeply feel the loss we have sustained, combinine, as she did, so many bright and beautiful traits of character. As the companion of a (Jhristian minister she was peculiarly fitted for the position. As a wife and mathei she was endowed with rare qiialiües, that made her presence in the clomestic circle a constant joy and benediction. In her tieportmeut shone conspicuously the graces of a Oliristian cliaracter. In the social gathering she was always a marked and welcome guest, while in the general community she was recognizeJ as the reflned Cbriatian larfy Wh would emulate üer virtues and follow her Christian example. Resolved, That we hereby express to Mrj Alabaster and family our heartfelt sympathy, we condole with them over their irreparrable loss, and pray that the Infinite Father may sustain them by his presence and blessing and guide them all safely to the' " home" to whicb the dear wiíe and mother lias been gathered.
