Nihilistic Disclosures
A dispatch from bt. Petersburg of Nov. 29, says : The nihilistic circles of this city, and of all Russia, are in a high state of excitement, coupled with terror, over the discovery that the pólice are now in f uil possession of their secret plans and mysterious methods. The intensity of fear has been greatly augmented on learning that the traitor who furnished the information was none other than fonner member of the central revolutionary committee of the nihilists who had KULL KNOWLEDGE OF ALL PERSONS and plans of the organization. Por a long while it has been evident that the government knew a great deal. Until recently it had been attributed to shrewd detective work ; but it is now known to have been the result of treachery. The story is briefly as follows Something more than a year ago a Jew whose name is G G , anc who was one of the leading nihilists in Russia, being a member of the centra revolutionary committee. had a quarre with another nihilist. The latter carried his hatred to suck an extent as to denounce G G , who was at once arrested. On examination before the pólice tribunal, it was discovered that he was f ully ACQUAINTED WITH ALL THE WOKKINGS of the revolutionists, and a proposition was made to induce Mm to reveal all He consented to do so on three conditions, namely : He should have a ful pardon for himself, his death in the fortress should be announced and certifled to, and the government shoulc givo him 20,000 roubles to get to America with, and assist him in his flight The bargain was made, and he accordingly gave up such knowledge as was then in his possession. Some fifty or sixty of his accomplices were denounced by him and forthwlth arrested. He conducted the pólice to a nihilistic laboratory on the banks of the ri ver Neva, where a half dozen men were f oimd engaged in tbe manufacture of dynamite. A large supply of material was founc in store. The workmen were arrestec and two of them hanged ; the others went to Siberia. Shortly af ter w ard the violent death of G G was announced by the authorities, and the mutilated body of a man DI8FIGTTRED BEYOND RECOGNITIGN, was removed from the prison and given over to f riends for burial, The impression prevailed that his death was by executivo order. But during the past year the pólice have followed up the clue, and have developed the fact that G - - G is y et alive and well, residing in New York, and under pay of the Russian government, and is f urnishiag it with news of all nihilistic movements. At the time of his allegerl death, a body had been procured from one of the hospitals, disflgured as above related, and palmed off on his friends as his own.
