A bridal outflt, comprising flfty-six ots of goods, was sold at the Custom Eouse auction at New York laat week. The goods were brought from Paris by Toseph Leopold, who was a passenger ü the steamship Scythia. Mr. Leopold s a resident of Milwaukee, and well, mown about the lakea as a prominent steamboat owner. He intended the seized garments to'be the bridal outflt nf his daughter, Miss Rachel Leopold, % leader of fashion in Milwaukee. They were seized at the Prescott House, on the ground that he had landed them without deolaring them to be dutiable. The inspector wno passeci mem , moved. Tho government appraiser , valued the outfit at $4,000. Mr. Leopold refused to reclaim them by paying the penalties required after they had been forfeited to the government. The entire outfit sold for less than $2,000, though there were ïnany bidders. A white satin wedding dress, trimmed with Mechlin lace, appraised at $640, brought $160, Isaac Hall, of Brooklyn, was the buyer. A white satin embroidered rnuff to match brought $9. A maroon dinner dress trimmed with point lace, appraised at $850, sold for $175, to Martin Hernin, a bachelor, who also bought several other articles. A black satin evening dress, beaded and trimmea wita Aiecmin lace, w em, for$130. The governmeni valued ■ it at 1300. A black satin dolman, valued at $80, brought $84. A plum-colored satin walking dress, appraiaed at $220, sold for $8. A sealskin dolman with passementerie trimminga, appraised at $300, sold for $200. A blue cashmere morning dress trimmed with lace, valued at $100, sold for $35. Two pairs silk garters brouglit 62 cents, and a silk corset sold for $4 50. Five pairs of silk stockings brought $3 50 a pair. An embroidered flannel skirt sold for $5 50. A black lace shawl sold for $25. Lace handkerchiefs sold froin $2 75to$3 50 each, and lace collars from $1 50 to $7 each. A laco cape sold for $10 50. Prof. A. J.
