The executive board met at the Kussell Honse.Detroit, on Tuesday. There were also present delegations f rom tlie Michigan bee keepers' association, the state horticultura! society, the sueep breeders' and wool growers' and the short-horn cattle breeders' association. The. superintendent of the horticultura! department reported a successi'ul cxhiliition. Mr. Baxter oí' thecoinmittee cm tho president's address, reported a división of subjects and reference to the appropriate ooinmitteep. This communication was referred to the committee on the revisión of premium list. The secretary read i coumiunication l'rom the secretary of the Illinois state board of agriculture, invitiug co-operation in sustaining the fat stock show at Chicago. Mr. Henry Fralick tendered his resignation as meniber of the executive committee, which was accepted and a committee of nine appointed to present names to the board from which to fill tho vacancy. Wood were appointed a committee to conl'er with the committee of the horücultural society in regard to the union exhibition of the twosocieties at the annual fair. II. D. Cutting stated that Michigan wa3 one of the leading states in honey production. He made 110 demands on the society, uut asked proper lacihties for exhibitors, promisiiig with these t'acilities i larger exhibition of the kind than lias ever been held. This presentation was referred to the committoe on rules. Some diseussioii was had iu regard to the appointment of a viewing coniinittee wherein the securing of committees trom out of the state was bolh favored and condemned. The whole matter was linally referred to the committee on rules. The subject of the sales at fairs was referred to a cornmittee cousisting (f riiilo Parsons, W. J. Baxter, J. M. Sterling, A J. Dean and W. G. Beckwith. The president appointed as the business committee for the ensuing year, Johu Gilbert, W. H. Cobb, A. O. Hyde. The committee on recommeuding names f rom which to select a uiember of the board to 1 1 11 vacancy reported. Dr. Mitchell of Jackson was eleeted. The superintendent of forage made his report. The reduction of expenses in tliis department in 1881 was over $500, while the ainount of stock to be provided for was equal to that at previous fairs. Mr. Parsons of the committee of conference with the committee of the horticultural society reported. They recoinmend that the present relations with that society be sustained, that they are doing a good work for the horticultural interests of the state, and that the agricultural society appropriate $1,000 for premiums and $1,400 for expensee in consideration of the horticultural society holding a unión exhibition in connection with the agricultural society. Mr. Parsons was requested to represent the society at the meeting of the section on vineyards and the manufacture of wines which will meet on the 17th. Wood; on Children's Department, the report of Miss Minnie Brow was read by the secretary; on Manufactures, by F. V. smith. At the subsequent session of the uomimuee or tne Agricultura! society, in tliis city, it was resolved that the portion of the retiring president's ad(iress relative to the advisability of locating the state fair permanently at one place was referred to a committee composed of W. J. Baxter, A. J. Dean, Geo. W. Phillips and J. M. Stirling. A committee consisting of Afeasra. J.M. Mr. Green delivered an interesting address on the business of the oom mi ttee for the past 30 years. ïhe seeretary's salary was placed at 11,000 per armuui, and that of the treasurer's clerk at $400. The ex-committee adjourned on Friday, and the sub-committee met to discuss the place for holding the uext fair.
