Of course there was great excitement n the. city Saturday wheu it was anüounced offlcially tliat thd lot on the corner of Maiu and Aan streets had been ?elected as the site for the new postoffice. Thenewssoon spread through the city, ind groups of men could be seen on the streets earnestly discussing the matter. Soine were disappoinled and exprussed themselves in language more (orcible than elegant. Others were tïee to say that the governnient had showii sound wisdom in naming the localion. Certain it is it will accommodate the BUSINESS MliN, and in fact a majority of the citi.ens, and no one will be iujured, except it be those who are occupying stores in the St. James hotel bloek on West Huron streel. It is generally conceded that a handsome building on the site selected will be a great ornament to the city. Not ouly this, but A.nn Arbor will have the best ARRANGED POSTOFFICB in the state. The p!ans and speciflcations will be iurnished by the governnient ani wilhin the next six or eight months the building wil! be completed and ready for occupancy, It will have a frontage of 45 feet on Ann Street and 100 feet on Main streel. There will be several entrances on the two sides, and there is to be píate glass fronts and a marbie floor. The office will be tire proof. There is no doubt that by this time many who favoied the Hamilton blockj have come to the conclusión that the governnient could no' have done a wiser thing jthau in locat ing the postoffloe where it is to be.
