John O Hará, for mauy years a resi[ent of tliis county, died in Washington, ). C, Frulay, at llie age of 74 years. He was born in Ireland and carne to this couutry wheu a young mau and first lo eated in New "Yoik city, where he resided for sorne time. He afterwards attendd school at the Georgetown university, ). C. He completed his education in ialtimore and was a man of great learning. He was master of several lanuages, and whcn in his 6Üth year commeuced the study of Germán and spoke t flueuUy. He was educated, it is said, or the priesthood. At the time of the war Mr. O'Hara was one of the commisbioners to see to the didtributiou of goods and provisión to the soldiers in the army who weut from Wasiitenaw couuty. Soon after the war he was admitted to the )ar but never eugaged in the pructice of he law. Slill later he was professor of auguages aud mathematics in the university of Notie Dame at South Heiid, Indiana. He ïemained there two years, when He returned tu Ana Albor and took up bis reeideuee with hia son JHchael. Öome two years ago be went to WashingOD, wheie he accepted a clerkship iu tbe uterior departnieut, which position be ïeld at the time of his death He leaves a family of six cliildren - four sons and vvo daiigbteis. Michael Uves in this )lace, William ís deputy clerk of thu robate court in Chicago, Daniel isa resident of Toledo and a member of tbe comnon COUDCÍI, John is a telegrapb operator u Monroe. Mis. J. E. Turlle resides in Florence, Alabama, and Miss Maggie O'Iiara is at present in Bay City. Mr. )'Hara's remains were brought here Tueg day and iuterred in the Catholic ceinelery.
