A pctiüon signed by a large mnnber oí citizens of tho second, thhd aud iiflh ward was presented to tbe council Monday evening, makine a general complaint aguinst the Toledo, Ann Arbor & Grand Trunk railroad, whose persisteney iu blockading the streets in the wards mentioned has Jbecome an intolerable nuisance. After brief remarks by Aid. Besi. mer the following resolutious vrcre unauimously adopted: AVherkas, On reading and üling the petition of Chas. J. Gardner and others, residents of the second, third and íifth wards, praying that the Toledo, Ann Arbor & Grand Trunk railway be required to station and maintain flagmen at the inleMection of South Main, West Liberty, West Hurón, Pontiac street and Miller avenue, and it appearing from said pelition that the public interest and safety re quire the station ing and maintaining of buch flagmen, therefore, Resolved, That a coinmitlee of three be appointed by the mayor whose duty it shall be to take such measures as shall be necessary to procure the stationmg and maiutaining of such flagmen. And it fur ther appearing that said railway company have not procured the conveyance to the city of the laud fora ttreet leading south from Chubb street from near in front of E. G. Wildt's, which was the conditious their being perinittcd to obstruct Chubb street on the east end, therefore, it is further Resolved, That said cornmittce be direct ed and authorized to procure such deeJ, or that in default of such conveyance tbat they cause the obetructions to (Jhubb street to be removed. And it f urther appearing to the couucil that said railway compauy have reudered Felch street, by the construction of their railway.impassible for vehicles, and have neglected for a long time to put said crossfng in good condition tor crossing, it is f urther Resolved, That said cotnmiüee be authorized to fake such measures as shalt be necessary to compel said railway company to put said street crossiugs in as passable condition as tbey were previous to the constructiou of saul road. The mayor appointed as membors of the committee Aid. Besimer, Dow, and Keech.
