The provisions of the bill relating to the coasts of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan were not amended in the Senate, and stand as follows. On the coast of Lake Superior, a lif e-saving station at or near Grand Marais, Mich. On the coast of Lake Michigan, a lifesaving station at or near Frankfort, one at Pentwater, one at White river, one at Holland, one at South Huron, and one at Michigan City, Ind., and one atSturgeon Bay, AVis. The salaries of the superintendents of the districts embracing the coasts of Lakes Ontaria, Erie, Huron, and Superior will hereafter be $1,800. Surfman will receive $50 per month, and keepers of stations $800 perannum. The most worthy feature of the bill is the section put in by the Commerce Committee. The section provides that in case a man is disabled iu the service, his salary runs on for at least one year, and for a longer period if the general superintendent thinks it wise under all the circumstances of the case. ProvisiĆ³n ia also made that in case a member of the crew or other employee should die by reason of a wound received in the service, his widow or children shall receive the amount of his salary for two years. Senator Conger and all who have assisted have the heartfelt thanks of the heroic men in the Service, their families and their friends. Why is a dog's tail a very great nov elty?
