the Illinois State Board of Agricultura as to the condition and acre3ge of ■winter wheat shows that the seeding for the next erop has been 2,676,000 acres, or 275,000 less than the previous erop. In the northern división the area is 15 per cent, or 12,000 acres below last year. The condition is 4 per cent above the average. In the central división, which raises half of the whole erop of the State, the condition is 3 per cent above the average, and the acreage is 13 per cent, or 150,000 acres jelow last year. In the southern división there has seldom been a more jromisingf condition or a better yield )er acre in prospect. In aceordance with the joint resolution of the General Assembly, Governor Fosterissued a proclamation setting apart April 27 as a day for planting forest trees in Ohio by the roadside, in groves, and about homes. He recomnended the formation of forestry societies in towns and villages, and calis attention to the National Forestry Congress at Cincinnatti April 25, and recommends that institutions having agricultural organizations appoint delegates to make congress a success.
