It would seem that almost every plant had its peculiar louse. White these are among the most abundant of insects, they are also those inost easily kept ia control. While sume insects, like the Rose-hug, resist all applications, the tender-skinned plauWice are easily subdued by tobacco in any form, whether dusted upon them applied in the liquid form, or as smoke. What are known as 'tobáceo stem may be had of the cigar-makers, of ten for the carrying off, or at any rate for a very small price. These may be burned for plants in greenhouses. but fcr those out of doors the application must be in a liquid form. Fill a barrel with the sterns, crowding them down firmly, and then water; hot water, if in a hurry, but cold will answer. The tobáceo "tea" thus made will not injure the most delicate plant, but will be very destructivo to the lice, upon whatever plant they may bfl. The liquid may be applied by any of the many garden pumns, or even with a cotnmon watering pot, as the case may require. [t sometioues happens that the lice coleet in graat numbers near the ends of the branches of trees; in such cases t will be well to bend the branches down, and immerse the ends in the tobacco- water.
