We have been requested to givc a list of the governors of this state. The first was Stephen T. Mason, democrat, elected before he was 21, but of agebefore hewas sworn in, Jan. 1838. The second, Wm. Woodbridge, whig, 1840. He was elected Jnited States senator, and the lieutenant governor J. Wright Gordon became governor. John 8. Earry, democrat, succeeded him, 1813 to 1845, and again, 1849 -o 1851. Next, Gov. Alphen Felch, democrat, 1845 to 1847. He was elocted ü. S. senator, and Wm. L. Greenley the ieutenant governor, succeeded him. In 848, Epathroditus Kansom, democrat, one term. 1851 to 1853, Robert Mcüleland, demoarat. He became secretary of the interior,and Vndrew Parsons, lieutenant governor, served until Jan., 1855. The republicans hen came into power and the following governors have served four years each, save Moses Wisner - two years - Jerome s now in his first term; Kingsley S. 3ingham, Moses Wisner, Austin Blair, ïenry H. Crapo, Henry P. Baldwin, J. J. ïagley, Charles M. Croswell, David H. rerome. The state government has been mder democratie control sixteen years, whig two years, republican, up to Jan. st, 1883, twenty-eight years. - Commercial.
