James Burke, a convictsentfromSt. Joseph county, April 18, 1878, on a 10 years' seMtence, for burglary, played a cleyer game to get away recently, but it didn't, work. He was employed on the cooper contract, and squeezed hims elf into a box, got some of his fellow convicta to nail it up, and ábout 0 o'clock a team8ter wascalled&nd asked to take "that box of tools," which belonged to a convict and tne authorities wished to get it out of the way, to some place in the city.
