The opening of new railroads, the dissemination of in'ormation with reference to the coun:ry, and the prospective clearing of old tax titles have drawn thlther imrni;rants by the thousand. A portion of this country is nöt by any meana new. The western portion of Montcalrn, for instance, bas been setxled for many years, the country around Greenvillo having hundreds of üne and well cultivated farms ; but in every county there are some sections whiekarecomparativelynew and whicli have feit the ímpetus of ihe northward niovement of population.
