The cremationists in thiscity haven't aceomplisked much this year iu the way of securing popular acceptance f or their favorito idea. During the past winter and spring they held a number of meetings, but they did n ot add over twenty members to their list, which includes, all told, only about one hundred names. 'J'hey have not yet been able to raise nioney enougu iu uunu men crematory. Until they have it in operation, it'is evident that íhey will not make much progresa with their idea. Some of their leading spirits admit that ir' tho people ever tolérate, and at length ápprove of cremation, it will not be until some of the energy uow expended In theoriziDg on the subject is devoted to the practical work of providing the best facililies for burning bodies. Tliere does not seem to be rnucb. evidence in support of the fact assurned by Mr. Cobb, in the North American Keview, that the sentiment in favor of creination is growing in this country. It is making considerable progress in Europe; although in Italy, where there are between forty and üfty creinatories, there have been lesa than four hundred bodies burned withiu the past year. Some of theEuropean cremation societies are quite respectable numerically.
