Four ribs were broken, and two of them driven into his lung. Such was his nerve that he walst d 60 feetto the stairway leading to the upper Moor of the mili, on his way passing under a belt which was within three feet of the floor, ascended the stairs and gave the alarm. His fellow-worknien, with great presenee of mind, extern poriztd a tourniquet from a piece of ace leather, and thus saved him from bleedingtodeathuntil the arnval of the surgeon, 10 minutes later. The wound was dressed and the broken bones set by Dr. Cummer, and there is a fair prospect that the patiƫnt may recover.
