Mr. Dis raeli hesitated inuch. Before bringing out some telling and well prepared ad ective he would "er-er-er" for a minUe or tvvo, so as to make liis hearers suppose that ho was ehoosing hetween a half a dozen words. And vet many of Mr. Disraeli's most effective speeches were learned by heart. He would give thera to the Times reporter before dvivered, and although the reporter followed the speech, pencil in hand, he seldom had co alter a single word, so excellent was Mr. Disraeli s memory.
