At a meeting oí colored peoplo held in Philadelphla the other evening to consider the advisability of providing industrial education for coloree! children, the R9V. Dr. Crummell, a colored Episcopal clergyman of Washington, said: "AmoDa; all the missionaries from various countries at work in África none have so much eelebrity and few do 80 effecüve work as the missionaries from Aniertca. Their great succes is due almost entirely totheirpractieality. They not only preach tho Gospel to tho natives, but at the same timo give useful instructions in industrial education. Thoy teach tho use oí manual labor, placo whenever possible impiements of agricultura and trade in the hands of the peoplo snd give them practical knowledge of the achievements of civilization. They thus arouso a hearty appreciation of labor on the part of tho people and open to them opportunities for a livelihood almost incalculable in value. Experionc3 in West África shows that there is a very serious relation between industrial educación and the civilization and evangelizaron of the people. Diversiflod industries are necessary for the progress of the oalored race, and when they have practically demonstrated the ability and talent they possess a grand and gloi'ioutfuturo will betnn for them."
