This asBociation, of whioh Prof. J. B. Davis is president, holds ita annual meeting in this city Jan. 26-30. The seesions will be held at the university, while the headquarters for the local coinmittee will be held in the basement of the court house. Prof. E. AI . Cooley is chairman of the executive committee, and arrangements are being made for a large atten dance. The society now numbers nearly 200 membere, many of whom come from other states. At the coming meeting all those interested in mechanical engineering are inTited, whether members of the society or not. Reduced rates on all railroads may be secured by applying to the Recretary, K. ('. Carpenter, of Lansing, who will send certiticates to be used in purchasing tickets. Following is the program of exercises: TUB8DAY, JANUABY 26 - 2p. M. Reports ot President and various permanent committees; appurtionment of new oommittees and orgauizations of sections. 7 :3U p. m.- Address of the President on "Technical Education." WEDNESDAY - 9 A. M. Meeting of sandiug committees to paws on papers to be read. 9:30 a. m. - Meeting of the sooiety in three separate sections, as follows. tion A, Surveyingf sectíon B, Civil Eugineermg; sëfetion C. Mechauical Engineering. 2 p. m.- Excursions to various points of interest at the University. 7:30 p. m. - Address before the whole society. THURSDAY- 9 A. M Continuation of excursión; 2 p. in., meeting of societies in three separate sections; 7 p m., meeting of standing committees; 7:30 p. m., address before the whole society. General session. If it is any gratification to Miss Ada Gray to know that on her recent visit to St. Louis, says the Globe she had all the ladies in the audience in tears more than once, and a Inrge fraction of the sterner kcx polishing the perspiration out of their eyes, she aught to be happy. And again in the first two acts, where she has the lines to allow her to do so, the charming httle touches of humor in a wife, whose only coquettishness is reserved for her hueband, were so delicously neat that the transition afterwards to the desperation of insane jealously was only too vivid in its realistic effect.
