Charles Reed, at one time the notcd Prosecuting Attorney of Chicago, and who attained a great deal of celebrity as the counsel for Charles Guiteau on the latter's trial for the assassination of President Gariield, was arrestad uilow York loueutly on a bench warrant issued by Judge DonohuejOn an action begu in the supreme courtby Wm. Campbell, thewealthy paper mauufacturer. It is alleged that Reed appropriated theproceeds of a check for $1,BOQ drav-u by Mr. Campbell, which h placed in his hands as trustee. Mr. Reed acknowledges that he had no right to the mnnoy mt" ■" t.miot ramphall U ready to adjust the matter on easy term, and Reed's presfcnt wife has stocks valued at $3,300 which are pledged for $2,800. By using them she can probably secure her husband's release. - Mr. Reed has been living in New York for three years with his second wife, meeting with rather widely varying success iu law practice. The fume he gained in the Guiteau trial has not proved the great card Mr. Reed imagined it would it New York City.
