The New York Commercial Bulletin, of July 7, estimates the loss by flre in June in the Uuited States at $0,500,000, an amount fifty per cent. greater than the average loss in June for raany years. The number of large fires in Juno was exceptional for that nionth, there having been twenty-one fires where the reported loss was between $10:1,000 aud $000,000, the aggregate loss by tlic-e twenty-one tíres alone being $4,000,(M). There were 154 fires in which the reported loss was $10,000 and upwurd. The month was a severe one for tne fire ináur „in-t' companies.
