The treasury dopartmeut is using cvery effort to secure a spoedy distribution of the new silver cortiücates, and to that end orders have boen issuod for the torce eniployed on that work at the bureau of engraviug and printing to work extra hours at night until a supply of the small notes is secured sufficient to meet the present heavy demand. It is now said at the department that the $1 cortiflcates wiü be ready bv the lst of October, the 2s about threo weeks later, and the 5s about the middle of November. The treasury department has decideil that the valuation of the silver dollar for customs iurposes as legally prodaimed January 1, last cannot be changed during the year.
