Nearly ..11 tho business places, trading stores and lumber yards in Salisbury, Md., were burned out the other night. The ! file was fanned by a heavy wind, and it v:is not until the next inorning before the ñames were uuder control. The aggregate ' los-, will reach 1500,000. There wero-n few j people injured but no lives were lost. The Catholie church and the Salisbury hotel were among the buildings destroj'ed. The Bre Bwept everything. Only two mii.mM stores are left standing on Main street. The people of the town are loss. No place to sleep or obtain shelter ! mil nothing to eat can be had. The yillage of Oakland, 111., was visited ly a disast rous flre the same night and the ' eptire business poi-tion of the town laid In waste. The ! is estlmated at $590,000.
