The niembers of the legislatura assembied Priday morning at 9 o'clock at President Angell's office, and from there prooeeded to inspect the engineering laboratory. Some of them attended the chapel exercises at an earlier hour, bat not many did so. After the viBit to the laboratory quite a large number of those with the legislativo party visited the medical college and hstened to the lecture on anatomy by Dr. Ford. A subject lay beforo the professor, and with the aid of two or three students a dissection was made, showing more particularly the functions which the langs and heart perform in the human frame. A great many listened to the leoture of Prof. Bogers, in the law department, at the conclusión of which the law studente gave an ovation to repreaeutative Baker, of Monroe, a gradúate of that department. They msisted upon a speech from hun and when he had fairly begun the regular order of the day shut him off. His coileague, Herrington, of Oakland, escaped observation. Other divieions of the legislativa party attended Dr. Taft's lecture in the dental department and Dr. Wood's in the homeopathie medical college. At 10:45 the members of the legislature were assembled od the stage in university hall, together with the regenta and the membere of the various faculties. The student to the nnmber of 1,500 occupied the seate in the body of the hall. The sight was an inspiring one. Dr. Angelí, while awaiting the time for the exeroises to begin, requested the student to sing a verse or two of "John Brown," whioh they did with vim and vigor. Not only that, but the melody once started, it went on quite uucontrolled in genuine student style to the great merriment of most of the assembied Holonti. After they had quite satisfied their vocal organs and everything had relapsed to silence, President Angelí began u biort address of welcome, in which he utlined the history of the university nd enforced the propositjon that the alue of the property exceeded the cost o the State for the last fifty yeare by ■me 8300,000. They would not be xaoting creditors, howevei. President lonroe, of the senate, acting for his ranch of the legislativa body und also or the governor, made a pleasant little aeech. He was followed by Speaker rtarkey, of the house of representatives. Representativo Pierce, of Wayne made decided hit by his reference to "the roung men who had orowded themselves o the front" and was cheered and cheerd again. He was followed by Repreentative Diekema, who, being a recent raduate and delivsring a pleasing adress, was applauded to the echo Sentors Westgate and Gorman also spoke n a pleasant vein for a few momente ad were given a warm reception . The lee club appropriately closed the public zerciies and the party dispersed for inner. In the afternoon many of the party, noluding ladies, visited a olinic in the nedical hospital, where Surgeon Macean exciíed a tnmor of preposterous rowth from the body of a young man f 18. The patiënt was given ansesthetos and apparently suffered no pain hatever under the keen knives of the urgeons. The museum and the varioui other ttractive objects abont the university ere inspected, and at 4:30 the legialaiive party departed for Detroit by )ecial traiu.-
