Disastrous Hotel Fire

The Hotel Rel Monte of Monterey, Cal., was burned to the ground the other night. There were nearly :i00 guests in the hotel, mostly eastern people. Firo was discovered qukk enough to give all au opportunlty to escape. Most of the guests lost all of tlieir trunks and clothlng. Those who were not overeóme by frlght saved thelr jewels and money. Indlcations polnt strongly to incendiarism. The loss at a low estimate is placed at $1,600,000.
