There was a brisk ttoulhwest wind blowing aud the fire swept over the frame buildings like a whlrlwlnd. The fire department Icinji Bfflall, wns unablo to cop1 with the two tires and appeals for nid wore sent to Warren. A íitcainor and hook and ladder truck and Cali companlM were sent and every etTort was made to save the town but tha depot of the Phlladelphla & Krie was the only building of consequente saved. The area burned over is about twenty acres, Jt ia estimated tliat 1,100 people are homeless. Some camped out at i larendon, whi'.e others were taken to Warren, f rom wuich place the piovisions were sent. Rough lumber is being sent to ('larendon as fast as possible in order that shelter may be provided for those burned out. Over 300 buildings were destroyed, and aniong tho number are the postoftice, the Weaver and Henry hotels, the water works building, the Clarendon aud Brunswick hotels and a largo number of oil rigs and tanks, and tlie whole fire loss is not less than f -100,1X10 and probably near f."0.),000. The lire was nndoubtedly of incendiary origin.
