Tbe most violent eartbquake shock experiencod iu the vieintty of Guayaquil, Mexico since 1S5S occurrcd at 6:20 oii„ tho otber morning, causing great ulurm nmong the population. The shock lasted two minutes and twenty seconds, and the directlon of the moveinent was trom northeast to louthwest. All the cloulca iu the city were stopped at the moment o( the shock. A number of ceilings were shaken dowu aud several buildings were demolished. So fftr as reported no ouo was injured. It is feared that tbe shock must have oansad much dauiage iu the cities of tho interior.
