The Pope And The Pallium

The pope has blessed the palhum sent to Monsignor Richard, archbishop of Paris, and which is the insignia of his clerical elevation. Before the vestment is given to a new archbishop it is temporarily placed on the tomb of St. Peter, and then sent or presented to the recipiënt. The pallium doea not descend to the successor.
