With thifl issue closes the ninth volume of The kDEM0CRAT. Even its worst enemy must admit that it has been a lively paper during these nine years. What we have found for our hands to do, we have endeavored to do earnestly, and energetioally. In thedisoussion oí politioal questions, we have endeavored to deal fairly with our opponenta, nor have we resorted to misrepresentations, but in all cases appealed to reason and justice, and to subdue, as far as possible, those passions which too often govern our actions. All questions of interest in this city and the county of Washtenaw, have been commented upon. It has been our aim to make the paper acceptable and readable, and that such has been the case is to be een from our increasing circulation. Asa local paper, Thh Demoobat is conceded to be the best in the county, and we aon't propose it shall lose any of its interest in this respect, for we will give a brief resume of all eventa occurring in this city and county for the benefit of our numerous readers. To the prese of the state we are indebted for many congratulatory notioes that hare appeared from time to time. To those, who have by words of encouragement spoken well of our efforts we have to return thnnks. We would also return thanks for the cordial support received from the business men of Ann Arbor in the way of advertiaing, and ask a continuance of their patronage.
