It is a pley of considerable power and abounda in stirring aituations and good dialogues. Particularly striking is the third act, which pens in the Italian ■ lodginga on water front of New York. In this scène Mr. Hanford appeara to good advantage as Vio. Hartley, in character impersonations, which are adopted as a disguise to enable him to resoue bis sister Dot, who has been stolen bv the Italians and foroed to earn money as a crosaing sweeper Mr. Hanford is a rising young aotor of ability, as frequent appause demonatrated. Mr. Ed. Anderson was partioularly good as Moses Levi, the Jew, and by his new and witty sayings produced nivioh laughter. John Queen, as Lotus Kero, a padrone, did well, as did Dean Koberta in a similar character. Misa Rose St. Armour made an attractive Nellie lleartley, and Blanch Dayne gave a good intcrpretation of Dot. The other membera of the oompany austained their parts well, thereby rendering Mr. Hanford support. Grand Opera House, Ann Arbor, Saturday, September 24th.
