Mr. Crawford, of the Sagina Telegram, was telephoned for tliis morning by his brother, informing him that the ealc of his papers bad beeu stopped on tbe streets this niormng, and tbat the sale of the same had been prohibited at tbe news stands. Ou rcceipt of tbe telephono dispatcb, 'rawford camo down post haste and presented himself at the central station, dernunding by what rigbt or authonty tbey assumed to stop tlie sale of his paper. Ho was informeel tbat it was done by the authority of au ordinance passed at the last meeting of tbe council prohibitmg the sale of obscene literature. Mr. Crewford informed tbe officer that hu had taken counsel on this question, and that his counsel insists that the ordinance was void, and tbat if he was publishing and circuiating obscene literatnre it remained for the city to arrest liim and subst-antiato the but the idea of stopping the circuit ion of his paper was preposterous, and he should enter a suit for damages to himself and his advertisers. lie elaims that the officers have acted prematurely, because tbere is not a line in his paper in the ehape of spice or scandal which bas not appeared in the best daily papers in the United States. Ihus the matter stands at present.- hay City Evening Press. Crawford formerly resided in tbis city, and at one time handled the Detroit bvening News. The magnifleent triumph which awaits tho democratie party next year is thus sumined up by the CiDcinnati Enquirer: "Now that the ropublican managers havo announced to the woild that thcre is no hope for their cause UDless the war between tbe nortli and soutb can be aguinstirred up- uowthat their bloody shirt is again iloating in the breeze- the political horizon has suddenly become clear. It is now manifest that the democratie party will, iu 1888, carry all the southern states, and also New York, New Jersey, Connecticut.Indiana and Oregon. It is probable tliat the democratie party will also have a majority iu California, Colorado, Illinois and Massachusetts. Indeed, it is not impossible that they may earry .Michigan and Wisconsin "
