The last echo from the National Grange meeting has been heard ia a joint letter froin Gov. and Mrs. Luce to the Yayor and Comraon Couucil of j sing iu appreciatiou of their efforts for the proper reception and entertainment of the delega es and visi" lors. Theysay: "The warm greeting and generous hospitolity received from your hands aud trom all the citizens (ar j ed our higliest auticipations, and we desire to extend our gratoiul thanks for all j tuis kindness, aud assure you tliat down through tha years we will remember it as one of the hapDy recollections in our livos." The grange was brought to Michigan through the Governor's personal effort. Newspapers are coming back from all parts of the Union speakin very highly of Michigan and her peopla and their entertainment. A Terrible Death. Newell Tyler of Webbarville, while intoxicated, attacked a band of boys who were laugbing at his drunken conduct. He struck Ambler Darling and fracturad his skuil. The boy is six years old and may not recover. Tyler was arrested and put behind the bars. A few hours later the jail took fire. The flamas had spread so extensiuely when the town people learned of the fire that it was impossible to rescue Tyler. He roared and bello wed within the buruing buildin,'. When the walls had fallen and the lire h id gone down his roasted body was dragged from the debris. It is thought the man set tire to the jail himsolf. He was 33 years old and leaveá a widow with three children ■ They are very poor.
