At the regular monthly meeting of the Council, Monday evemng, the following business was transacted : The fire department officera were reported and ap proved. A patition signed by all the barbera iu the city, asking for the enforcement of the ordinnnee elosiug barhei shops and liath rooma on Sunday. The prayer of the petitionera was grnnted and the marshal waa inatructed to see that the ordipance was enforced. The following petitions were asked for The establishment of an electric light "to be plaoed on the hill on N. Fifth st. a few roda north of the interaeotion of Pontiac at." Referred to the general fund committee. A plank walk on tbe east side ol Fifth et., between North and Pontinc sta. Keferred to aidewalk committee. For the building of a sidewalk and the necessnry filling in of the same, on First st. between Jefferaon and Madison ate. Referred to strect commiitee. The aidewalk committee granted the petition for a sidewalk on the east side of North Thayer between Huron and North streeta. Resolutions were olTered for walks in front of the following premises: M.C. Le Beau, Chnst. Davison, L. Gruner, Alice Condón, P. O'IIearn, Eat. of Lucy W. 8. Morgan, Est, of John Lynch. The Recorder offered the following reaolution : Jlesolved, That the general fund committee be instructed to have au elec'ric light lamp established at the corner of Fuller and State streete, said light to be placed upon a pole not lesa than fifty feet in height. Which was adopted and the resolution carried. Aid. Swift also offered a resolution, which was adopted, refunding $24 to tbe Uobart guild trustees for tnxes assessed and collected agaioat the guild property. Aid. YVinea thought aomething might be done before long about the old cemetery. BEP0RT8 OF COMMITTEES. Aid.
