The Randall tariff bilí, which has been reported to the house, releáis the entire internal tax on tobáceo after July 1, and on fruit brandies. It nlso repeals 1h' license tax on w'iolesale and retail liquor dealer. Tt makes alcohol, nsed in the ■ïrts, free, and reduces th ' ax on whiskv 5 I cents ner (rallón. On the tari !T the bill is a completa revisión of the whole tarif!' system. it carries to the free list a largo number of articles now priyins; duties an 1 which enter into consumntion, either as raw material or otherwise, and in the produetiqn of which there is no injurious rompetition between this and other coiintries. The estimatel redur-tions under this bill will be: Dn internal taxation repealed, $70000 000; estimatod reduction on tari ff schedules, f35,000,000. Amonj the items in tlie bill are these: Copper ores, l1.; cents in each pound of fine copper contained. Old nopper and iippinKs for re-manu racture. 'l cents. Composition metal and inpots, plates or bars. '2' , cents, iron ore 75 cents per ton. as at present. Pis iron unchanged. Clothina; and oombing wools are unchanged. Carpet and other wools, 3 cents. The entire lit of iron and steel manufactures i? reduced. alinost without exception, though tbe reductions are often only Kllght Tobacco- Leaf wrappers, unstemme 1. IÍ0 cents; stemmed, S0 cents. Unmanufactured tobáceo, 30 cents. Tbere are no changos made in the present sugar schedulo excent a new provisión requiring sugar drainincs or sweepings tq pay duty as sugar or molasses. accordincr to test; an inerease of the duty on confectionery not enumerated from 10 to 15 cents a pound; and the addition of a seotion imposing a tariff of 1 cent a pound on glucose or grape sugar.
