The Demócrata of Michigan will meet in State onvention in the Detroit Opera House.at Detroit un Thurtvlnu July 1, 1888, at 11 o'clock a, m„ to rominate candidates for state offleers and fpr lectors of President and Vice-President of the United States, and for the transaction of such i ther business as may properly come before the t-onvention. According to the rule adopted by the state convention held at Detroit in 1880, every county is i ntitled to one delégate for eaoh 500 votoa cast for Koveraor at the last general election, and one adilltional delégate for a fraction of not less than : 50 rotas, but any county is entitled to at least dwo delégate, All delegatee must be resideuts vf the counties they represent. lie delégales from each Oongressional district ■will meet in caucus at 10 o'clock a. m., on the tav ot the convem ion. June 26 and 27th, at White's grand opera house. Jfr is expected, from the present outlook, that this will be the largest prohibition gathering ever held in the state. . Thje Chicago convention is no nearer uominating a man on the republioan ticket for president than it was when it ñrst commenoed. NeaIi Dow, the great probibionist says: "I see no indications that the mugwumps will return to the republicans if any particular man is named. I do not think Blaine can be elected if nominated. It is generally believed that tho demócrata will carry the country this vear. I do not think the republicans can carry it, and if they do not it will be tke end of them, for they will be obliged to reorganize and form a new party under a new name, taking in prohibitionigts and southern temperance men."
