K. S. Osgood, of Maiue. hus a curioua walkiug cane. The stick is octagon in shape, and is of white maple with oherry head; tlio entire body beiug made hollow with the displaced wood made into different designs and lef t in tlio hollow space. In the carved head is set a compass; in the fint joint or hollow space is three loose bull.s; in the serum!, three dice; in the third, a tuouiitod caunon; in the fourth, a rolling pin; in litlh, a chain: in sixth, a sailor's log, and in seventh a duiub buil and nondescript somewhat resetnbling an honr glass. The whole is tipped with an octagonal ferrule of brass. In circlos around the cane is tho following insoription: "Mado by E. G. Osgood, ol Portland, Me., in 1884. Total abstinence from all that intoxĂ­cate - E. G. O." Mr. Osgood luis beenofferod qu te a snm of money for the stick to place in the Boston Museum.
