At the regente' meeting Tuesday the following appointments were made: Alonzo B. Stevens, Pu. C. to continue as instructor in pharmacy. Frank C. Smith to continue as assistant in Quantitive Analysis with a salary of $250. Wm. F. Edwards as accounting and dispensing olerk in place of Mrs. Kate C. Johnson, lately resigned. The salary was fixed at $600. Erwin E. Ewell, Ph., C. assistant in Qualitative Analysis. The financial committee was ohanged so as to consist of Willett, Field and Hebard. After recess the question of rilling the viicancy caused by the death of the late Dr. Dunster was brought up. Dr. E. V. Jenks, of Detroit, and Dr. J, M. Martin were applicants. The hospital committee reported tbat the building be cleaned and disinfected on account of the bad eanitary condition; that the price of board be raised to $4 per week; that the hospital wards be divided into more compartments. Besides these, there are other recommendations which went to the medical committee. 'l'he resignation of Prof. C. N. Jones, professor of applied mathematics, was accepted as was the íesignation of Dr. George A. Uendncks as instructor. The regents decided that the suocossor to the chair of obstétrica in the medical department must reside in Ann Arbor. Joseph E. Putnam, of Eoohester, N. Y., was appointed assistant in the physical laboratory, with a salary of $700 per annum. The reaignation of Prof. Alfred Hennequin as instructor in French and Germán in the university to take effect October 1, 1883, was accepted. Dr. Q. A. Deucher, of tbe medioal class of '85, was appointed assistent in physiology, with a salary of f 150 per year. Upon a petition of Dr. H. L. Obetz, deán of the homeopathio department, the title of Dr. II. B. Arndt was changad so as to read " Professor of materia medica and therapeutics and clinioal professor of diaeases of the nervous system." W. V. Campbell was appointed instructor in ai Ironomy with a Balary of $900, and 'i'. C. Trueblood instruotor of elocution with 3ulary of $1,000 for the half year's work. The followiug appointments in the homeopathio department : J. S. Campbell, Al. D., resident physician and aeiistant to the cbair of materia medica amj therapeutics, at a ualary of $350 per year. Harriet M. Allen, M . D., assistant to tbe cbair of obstétrica and diseases of women and children and to the chair of opthalmology and otology, at a Balary of $200 per year. Geo. D. Arndt, M. D., assistant to the chair of surgery and to the chair of principies and practico of medicine at a salary of $200 per year. T. V. Trueblood was employed to give instruction in oratory and elocution in the law department ; II. B. Brown, judge of the U. 8. court of Detroit, appoiiited as law lecturer on admiralty in the law departraent during the next year ata salary of $350; Levi ï. Griflin, Wm. P. Wells, B. M. Thompson and J. C. Knowlton, M. M. Bigelow and Wm. G. Hammond were reappointed, as law lecturers. The gift of Dr. E. Dorech's library was accepted by the board, and suitable resohitions were adoptod.
