Mrs. John Welig, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, when the Dime Savingsbank of that city collapsed two years ego, offered $2000 toward alleviating the losses of the poorer depositors. She has now added $1000 more, and will buy in the accounts of the same class of depositors ut par. Mrs. Wells has begun the ereotion of a free hospital in New Brunswick, to bo named in honor. of her busband. Miss Francés E. Willard, of Evanstoo, 111., and Mrs. May Wright Sewall, of Iudianapolis, Ind., president aad corresponding secretary of the Women's National council of the United States, purpose to secure in every leading city and town of the United States a "Woman's Coudcü," made up of the presidente of all societies of women, having a headquarters of its own, with an office secretary, and entering unitedly upon suoh linea of work as all women eau flgree upon.
