AufiüST 34, Sexate.- The entire session was devoted to the consideration of the President's message on tho Haberles treoty. House.- Mr. Dlbblo of South Carolina, suDiuitted tho conference report, which was adopted, on tho bill providing for the eroction of a custom house and appraiser' warehouse In New York city. The dnliciency bill was then taken up, the pending question being on the appeal from tho chair's ruling out the Frenen spoliation soction of the bilí. A vote by teller disclosed the lack of a quorum, and a cali of the house was ordered; but up to4:80p. m. a quorum had not been secured, so the house took a reoess until 8 p. m., the night session to be devoted to the consideration of private pension bilis. The house at the eveniug session passed forty-five private pension bilis, and at 10:30 adjourned until to-morrow. August 37, Senate.- Mr. Plumb, from the committee on public lands, reported back the sonate bill to forfeit lunds grunted to the state of Michigan to aid in the construction oí a railroad from Marquette to Ontouagon. Mr. Stowart's resolution, ruiling on tho commisstoner of the general land office for copies of all documenta and Communications in connection with the commissioner's recent letter to Representativo lïurnes touching Mr. Stowart's amendmont to the sundry civil bill on the subject of tlmber cutting on government lands was adopted, a new conference on the army appropriation bill was agreed to. Ths message from the president vetoing the bill appropriating $150,000 for a public building at Sioux City, Ia-, was read and the senato adjourned. House. - The general deficiency bill was passed, minus the French spoilation claims section. A number of bilis were introduced, and after a lengthy debate on the 1 i lui educational bill, the house adjourned. GENERAL, A canning establishment in StilJ Pond, Kent cqunty, Md., was blown dqwn during a high wind the other dav, and nine employés were crushed to deatn. A registered package containing $10,000 sent from Portland, Oregon, to New York, has been stolen. The detectives and postónico inspoctors are workiug on tho case. The contract has ben extended until November, 1S89, whlch will ?ivo more time for f urther considerations. The increased payments from the United States will commouce in November, 18'JS.
