Our State Taxes
The state taxes for this year are doublé those leried during the Democratie administration of Oov. Winans; the amount for this year is more than that ior both years of his administration. Nor was this enorinous dlffereuoa due to any reduction of the cash ia the treasury when the Democrats ware in power. The treasury contained 81,151,259, on Jan. lt, 1891, during Luce's term, while a year later, under Winans, it contained $1,224,644 and the following year, the last one of Winans' administration, it rose to $1,241,971- a gain of $90,7U in tro Democratie years. After Rich had been governor ior a year, the cash was reduced to $547,511 and the next year of his term, tliere was but $521,825 There is now but $290,417 in the stat treaBury. Verily, this Rich admin utration is bad on the poor taxpayer of Michigan!
