The process tor the manufacture of artificial silk is based upon that employed by nature. The first thing used is wood - for mulberry leaves are in reality the equivalent of a mulberry wood. The wood is worked into a paste, after being dipped in nitric and sulphuric acids. is dried and placed in i bath of ether and alcohol. A transformation takes place and a kind of glue or collodion is the result.
