Dr. Eliza Mosher, Women s deán m the University, addressed a large and appreciative audienee at the Unitarian ehurch last Simday evening. Dr. Moslier has had a large experience in dealing with the criminal classes, having been for five years physician to the women's prison of Massachusetts, and for three years superintendent. Her description of the government eformatory influence of the Massachusetts women's prison was very interesting. The administration of the prison is entirely in the hands of women, and the speaker remembered at least forty women who had been conflned there as crimináis, who after the expiration of their sentence had married, raised families of beautiful children, and become respected members of society. Of CQurse there probablywere manyother similar c with whose history she was not acquainted. The impression of the la audienee, after the conclusión of the address, was that the University had made no mistake in securing Dr. Mosher to preside over the Women's department. She is a woman of micldle age, of noble [and commanding presence, and will have great influence with the (500 young women who will come under her direction and advice. An entertainment for the benefit of the ehurch fund was triven at the Xorth Side chapel Tuesday eyening. Vocal and instrumental music was given. Mr. lïeynolds'mandolin and guitar club carne in for great applause. Too mucli praise cannot be given Messrs. I5;ings and Reynolds who did most of the work. About 2a was realized.
