The Sophomore girls received the Freshman girls last Friday evening, at the Waterman gymnasium. The "Freshman spread"' brought out the girls in all their beauty, with no man to molest or make them af raid. About flve hundred guests were present, and the galleries were crowded with spectators. The booth of the chaperons, opposite the entrance, was tastefully draped, and decorated with chrysanthemums. The ladies who graced it were Dr. Mosher, and Jlesdames Angel√≠. D'√ľoge, Knowlton, Patterson, VVait, Yaughn, Carhart, Copeland, Soule. Light refreshments were servel between the dances, and the strains of "Home weet Home" seemed to have come too soon, when they were heard at 11 o'clock. The hall, from the galleries, was a sight to be remembered. The )right costumes and happy faces, as the girls flocked around Dr. Mosher, seemed aMve with the feeling that the wodien of the University had a new standing; and taken all around, the party was an entire success.
