We clip f rom theDexter Leader some items given about this church in a paper read at the reuniĆ³n on Nov. 19, by E. C. Keeve, of Dexter. Keligious services were established in the spring of 1839. The circuit embraced a large extent of territory, and was known a s the Iluron circuit. In September of that year it was changed to the Ann Arbor circuit. 'Che church was form ally organizad the 15th of March, 1832, in Judge Dexter's residence which house is still standing. A building was erected in the summer of '42 and dedicated in '43. It was built by Calvin Fillmore, who was a brother of Millard Fillmore, afterwards president of the United States. The church has had forty-nine pastors in all. Among them was Prof. Richard Iludsoti, of the university, who served the church in 1872. Speaking of him, the historian says, "Richard Hudson the pale, redcheeked young pastor of '72, with his frail physique, is now holding down the chair of professor of history in our great University, and tips the sciles at not much less than two hundred and twenty-flve pounds." The present organist first began to ser,ve the church about forty years ago, and still carries a gold watch given her by the society over twenty-five years ago. The church has had quite a history, and has been a power for good in the community.
