Joe T. Jacobs was in Detroit Monday. Judge Harriman spent Saturday in Detroit. ■I. stanger did business in Urania Tuesdiiy. W. G. Dieterle was in Jackson on business Monday. Miss Huson is entertaining Miss Alice Clay of Jackson. Dr. and Mis. W. J. Ilerdman gave a large reception Tuesday evening. J. .1. Buechlerof Big Ilorn, Montana, s visiting friends and relatives in the city. Rice Davis, who has been seriously 11 for a couple of weeks, is convalescent. Probate liegister Doty will open a law office ou retiring f rom the Probate office. Maj. and Mrs. Pebbles of Detroit, spent Sunday with the local Salvation army. Titus F. Ilutzel and A.C. Schumacher took a day otï Wednesday and went hunting. Miss Lucy Gackle of Saline, spent Saturday and Sunday with friends in thn city. Rev. W. L. Tedrow and famlly are entertaiuing Miss L. Gormingham of Chicago. Mrs. S. P. Johnson of Packard street, is spending the winter with relatives in Homer, N. Y. Messr Bob and Phil Cochran of Toledo, visi:ed with the family of Aid. Geo. I,. Moore last week. John P. Kirk, our next Prosecuting Attorney, was in the city Monday to atteud the opening of court. Prof. Geo. T. Winston of the Unisity of ïexas, visited the city and University a few days this week. Herman 1!. Ames will speak on Washington birthday before one of the public schools of Chicago, as arepresentative of the ömversity. I. K. Friedman, '93, has published a book, "The Lucky Xumber," a bnok of stories of the Chica ío slums, which is eliciting much favorable comment. Chas. Staeb and his brother Chris were in Saline Sunday. As Charles is driving his own horse now perhaps his young lady friends need not walk so much of the time. 1' róbate Judge-elect Newkirk leaves the Dexter Savings bank tomorrow. Nextweek he will come to this city and spend the balance of the month getting acquainted with his new duties. Jacob Knapp of Chicago visited friends in Ann rbor for a few days. He is on his way back from a visit to (Jcnuany, and says America at the present time is m!)re properous than Germany. Kev. M. M. Martin and family, formerlv of Allegnn. Mich , who have just returned trom a four month "s visit in Europe, are visitmg Mr. and ..Irs. V. II. Butler. They may decide to inake Ann j Arbor their home.
