Sandbaggers At Ypsilanti
Aa B. C. Ilaytou was going home from his shop Tuesday evening, he had just passed the high school building on Washington st, when he heard some one coming up rapidly behind him. He stepped to one side to get out of the way, when he was struck on the top of the head with a bag of shot. He was not knocked down by the blow, though a heavy one, and he reached in his pocket where he generally carries a revolver. The men - forthere were two of them- seeing this movement, were not slow to surmise wliat he was reaching for, nor were they slow in getting out of the way. Mr. Hayton then began to feel the effeets of the blow, and with great difliculty managed to get to the door of Mr. Wïlcoxaon, where he was taken in and cared for. It seems as if a reign of terror lias struck Ypsilanti, for scarcely a night goes by but a crime of some kind is committed. Dogs and double-barreled shot guns are becoming as great a neer sil y as hals and coats, f one wishes to venture out of doors in safety.
