Miss EleanorLehn has returned from Detroit. Howard Schofield of Xorvell, was in town Monday. Miss Weger of Cleveland, O., is visiting her parent s. Peter lïyan of Marine City, is home on a week's vacation. J. M. Jones of ïecumseh, was in town on business ïuesday. Jacob Braun of A nu Arbor, visited friends here Christmas day. Gust Wuerthner of ïecumseh; was liome Thursday of last week. Miss Lula Phillips of Jackson, is a guest of her uncle J. J. Briegel. Miss Orrell Grigsby is spending the holidays at her home in Allegan. Isaac Hall had the misfortune to break an arm one day last week. The Lady Maccabees initiated two new candidates Monday evening. Miss Zella Crocker of Jackson, is visiting her cousin Miss liessie Torrey. Mr. and Mrs. T. 15. Bailey entertained a few friends at cards Saturday evening. Mrs. W. L. Watkins and Mrs. G. II. Ford drove to Adrián and return, Tuesday. ■ Albert W. Dorr of the U. oí M., spent the lioliday vacation in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Blosser have returned from a six weeks' visit at Lansing. Mrs. Ir. Felton of Jackson, was a visitor at Leonard Ilerman's one day last iveek. 1!. Fred Burtless came home Saturday from Toledo to make his parents a short visit. The Walker-Farrell law suit was adjourned Monday. and a new suit will be triedsoon. A number oi young people enjoyed a sleigh-ride out to Mr. Leonard Herman's Monday evening. Miss Minnie G-ieske and Miss Anna Maurei of Ann Arbor, visited their parents Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. lilos er of Lansing, spent Christmas with liis brother, Mat J)., and family. G.H. Anthony and G. L. Mcr'ollum expect to go to Iludson soon to work in a bicycle, factory. Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Besemer and son of Jackson, have been visiting at Matthew T. Prout's. Mr. and Mrs. F. I). Merrithew and son Bob, went to Jackson Christmas for a few days' visit. Prof. Evan Essery went to Lansing Monday, to be present at the state teachers' association. Elmer Allen accompanied by his mother and sister of Ypsilanti, spent Xmas at Win. CamjJbell's. Dr. and Mrs. (eo. Johnson of llastiiigs, spent the holidays with Win. Johnson and other relatives. It is reported thai Eugene Millen, oldest son of ('. II. Millen, isveryill with typhoid fever, at Wolf Lake. Miss Bertha Younghans came up from Toledo Wednesday evening to visit her parents a couple of weeks. Mrs. II. p. Welling of Hillsdale, has been making her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Clark, a few days' visit. (rand Lecturer Bisbee was here Tuesday evening. and witnessed Adoniram 'Council 2i, R. and s. M. do the work. The Misses Mary Unterkircher and llattiè Kose, who are employed at Jackson, were home a few days last week. Miss Mamie Haag of Jaekson, is a ; guest of her aunts. the Miases Ilcrmar. Miss Ida Gwinner, accompanied by two lady friend3 f rom Ypsilanti, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Short. It is reported that Mart Bendershot and Fred Schiiible will soon einbark into the grocery business at Kenslei's old stand. Mr. and Mrs. Win. Xisle of Tecumseh, spent Christmas and the balance of the week. with Will's parents, Mr.and Mis. (ieo. Xisle. Wm. Amspoker will move his faniily tu Aun Arbor to reside, having seeured employment there with Couuty ! urer Wm. Rehfuss. Eugene Quinan, whois attending the Cleary College at Ypsilanti, was in town a few days last week visiting ! friends and relat i ves. The young men about town gave an informal dancing party at Arbeiterj Hall New Year's eve., and music for the occasion was fumished by local i talent. The cheese factory seems to be a sucj cessf ui venture, and we hope the new i enterprise may continue to be so. Xew customers are added daily and they are now making about eight cheeses per day. X. Schmid, accompanied by his sister. Mrs. II. Kirchhofer, and Miss Julia Kirchhofer, went to Columbus, O , Tuesday morning to attend the funeral of Xate's brotlier, liev. Emanuel Schmid. The ladies of St. Mary's Catholic church served supper Wednesday evening at Arbeiter Hall to a large crowd. The Ladies1 Mandolín Club of Jack son, gave a higlily entertaining concert afterwards.
