Miss Luej Davenport is at home for her holiday vacation. .Mr. and Mrs. Lee Draper are at home to their friends, in Mr. G. Hathaway'a house. Miss Blanche Forsyth of the Adrián High school, is at home i'or the Christnniï vacation. Mr. G. Hathaway and family have moved to Ypsilanti, where th,eir son is attending school. Mrs. M. Clark lias returned from a four weeks' visit with friends in Saginaw and Owosso. Lodge Xo. 198, Knights of Pythias, will give their flrst reception and ball Friday evening, Jün. 1. Misses Maud and Jessie Loveland have returned from a visit of some length in the State of Xebraska. Miss Donna and Mr. Rob. McLachlan are at home, from the Ann Arbor High school, for Christmas vacation. The Boston board of health has fonnd the first effective aud practicable way of overhaulingthedirty aud selfish persons wbo insist upon splashing their diaeased expectoration npou the floors and platforms of pahlin conveyances and in publio places generally. The creatures who are caught at it in Boston will hereafter Iiave to pay afine, f 100, and serve them right. The uew political party which it i.s proposed to form for the pnrpose of forwarding the leading commercial interests of this country will be constructed on the foundation of the gold standard and of uow tariff regulatious to snit these commercial interests, and the name it is prL)osed to give it is DemocraticRepublican party. The name is too long. We regret to hear that several persous have becoiae insane over politics as a result of the late campaigu. There is uothing in this world worth going orazy over. But the man who would go crazy over politics did not have far to go.
